Being vegan is turning me into a foodie ðŸĪ­ The obsession with food is getting so ridiculous I am taking pictures with my food on the BEACH.😍ðŸŒŊ🏝 For real though @mokuroots you are ruining all other food for me. We rarely get pictures together because we are always too busy having a blast together 😂 I swear the amount of times I've laughed until I've almost peed with this one...ðŸĪŠ So here is one of two pics I have of us 💞 lookin' tatty and sunburnt and taken by a strange man on the beach. Once an island girl, always an island girl.ðŸ—ŧ🏝 I remember living on an island in Alaska drawing palm trees and dolphins, dreaming of being a mermaid. Now I am preparing to live that dream with the love of my life, surrounded by amazing friends who I feel so blessed to have met and gotten to know. What?!🙊 Exciting things are happening and I am SO along for the ride. People have called me stubborn but I tell ya what- when you pursue a dream with all your might, sometimes, just sometimes, amazing things unfold. Often different but usually better than you imagined. I'm sleep deprived and sunburnt but still smiling ear to ear.
People ask me where I get my creative side and I say both my parents! My dad amazes me with his building skills, he likes doing everything with his own two hands (REFUSES to hire help which at times drives us all nuts 😂) and my mom crochets the most beautiful things. She just hand made me this gorgeous jute bag to use as a purse/ beach bag/ market tote 😍 I keep telling her she needs to start an Etsy store, don't you agree?? Do you ever look around at other women and feel like "Man! How does she do it all?!" I used to CONSTANTLY hold my accomplishments up against other people's for comparison and every time, felt that I was falling short. What I never took into account was the progress I was making in areas of my life that couldn't be measured so easily. As women, we can be SO hard on ourselves for what we perceive we lack while ignoring our MANY strengths and accomplishments. We see the polished exteriors of other women's lives and assume the interior must look the same. "Comparison is the thief of joy"- Theodore Roosevelt. When I read this quote a few years ago, I reflected on just how detrimental comparison had become to my own well-being. It's almost instinct to compare ourselves- a lot of us do it so subconsciously we aren't even aware of it! But guess what's cool- by BECOMING aware of it, we can call it out when it rears it's ugly head and train ourselves out of the habit of comparison. The next time you catch yourself envying other women and feeling down on yourself, shift your focus- celebrate what you admire about that woman and then find something about yourself to celebrate and focus on that. Something I think is awesome about myself is I have REALLY cool creative ideas! What is something you think is AWESOME about you?? Ps. Swipe right for my strange mid-sneeze face.
