Do you ever look around at other women and feel like "Man! How does she do it all?!"
I used to CONSTANTLY hold my accomplishments up against other people's for comparison and every time, felt that I was falling short. What I never took into account was the progress I was making in areas of my life that couldn't be measured so easily.
As women, we can be SO hard on ourselves for what we perceive we lack while ignoring our MANY strengths and accomplishments. We see the polished exteriors of other women's lives and assume the interior must look the same. "Comparison is the thief of joy"- Theodore Roosevelt. When I read this quote a few years ago, I reflected on just how detrimental comparison had become to my own well-being. It's almost instinct to compare ourselves- a lot of us do it so subconsciously we aren't even aware of it! But guess what's cool- by BECOMING aware of it, we can call it out when it rears it's ugly head and train ourselves out of the habit of comparison.
The next time you catch yourself envying other women and feeling down on yourself, shift your focus- celebrate what you admire about that woman and then find something about yourself to celebrate and focus on that. Something I think is awesome about myself is I have REALLY cool creative ideas! What is something you think is AWESOME about you??

OUR LOVE STORY PT 3 💑
It was a 2 hour trip to the beach. Everyone had been acting strange that day. My mom had been pushy about me dressing up and doing my hair because " my friend was having me take their family photo and she would feel weird if she dressed up and I didn't "🙄 Austin was quiet for the first time in our two years dating. SOMETHING was going on. When we arrived we set up the camera and my friend's husband suggested he take a few pics of Austin & I to get the camera settings right. Austin handed me a note with a sweet little poem he wrote on it and, as I was reading it, got down on one knee & asked me to marry him. I said (or probably squealed) YES! Have you ever seen that episode of friends where Chandler is planning to propose to Monica but tries to play it cool so she doesn't suspect anything? He says he doesn't believe in marriage & all that stuff but meanwhile he's picking out the ring & planning the proposal... Yeah Austin hadn't ever seen that cautionary tale- that was EXACTLY what he did! 😂 He had been planning the proposal for MONTHS while telling me he wasn't sure if he wanted to get married. He even custom designed my ring!
We got married 11 WEEKS later- yep I planned our whole wedding in 11 weeks 😅 & here we are!
We've been married for nearly 5 years! In those 5 years we've bought & sold a house, spent months apart on work trips, moved cross-country 4 times (planning for our 5th) once with less than 24 hours notice. We have changed and grown and gone through heartache & loss. We have overcome a lot and are stronger for it. We are opposites in the best ways- my weaknesses are his strengths & his weaknesses are my strengths. This is us! We were only 22 when we got married so we've literally built our life together from the ground up & in so many ways our life has only just begun. He's still my absolute BEST friend & I'm still his. I'm so grateful I decided to go to that lame mask making event, my life has never been the same💓

I was thinking about social media and how easy it is to see a picture and make an assumption about someone... 🤔 Take this photo for example- seeing this, you're probably thinking "woah that's cool, she's talented" or "she's so good at yoga" 🙌🏽 when in actuality, this was me trying to do a handstand and failing HARRRRD. I kicked up way too far, flipped over backwards, and my husband happened to take a pic right before my entire body went crashing to the earth like Shamu. 🐳 A happy accident you might say. I freaking love this photo because it makes me feel more talented than I actually am (& I think it's pretty) 💁🏽‍♀️ but I have bruises to prove this was just me being clumsy as per usual 😜
Today's reminder that these little squares aren't always what they seem 🧐

💦 Did you know that just by using a reusable water bottle you could save approximately 300-1,500 disposable water bottles per year? Most reusable bottles will last for years, even decades if you take care of them! Therefore, assuming one reusable bottle lasts 5 years to be conservative, you could be saving between 1,500 & 7,500 disposable bottles in the lifetime of just ONE bottle for ONE person. I mean, holy crap. 😳 WHY are disposable water bottles even still a thing?
I know why- Convenience, right? But is it actually ANY less convenient to bring a reusable bottle with you in your purse, diaper bag, backpack, car, hand- than it is to buy a plastic water bottle? 🤔 With bottle refill stations being put in EVERYWHERE and convenience stops/ food places offering water at the soda fountains and water on tap, there are endless options for refilling a bottle FOR FREE. 🙌🏽
This bottle cost me $7 at Walmart 🥳 I've owned several expensive Hydroflasks & this bottle's just as good. You don't have to spend a lot of money to get an awesome, sturdy reusable bottle. Using a reusable bottle is one of the easiest first steps you can take to start lowering your waste.
